Dad's Day at the Capitol: Fatherhood to the Frontlines
Summary
Monday, May 12th, 2025, will be the first ever “Dad’s Day at the Capitol” at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. From 8 am to 3 pm that day, more than 100 fathers from across Louisiana will converge on the State Capitol to ensure their voices are heard on issues affecting fathers, families, and children. This initiative has grown organically out of efforts by Dad-A-Port, Fathers on a Mission, Fathers Matter, Geaux Far Louisiana, the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children, the New Orleans Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, and others.

8:30 - 9:15 am: Breakfast in Governor’s Press Room
9:15 - 9:45 am: Press Conference on Capitol Steps combined with A Day Without Child Care
9:45 - 10:00 am: Group Photo
10:00 - 10:30 am: Book Reading on Capitol Steps with book distribution
10:30 - 11:30 am: Visit with Legislators, Committee meetings, and Tabling in Rotunda
11:30 am - 1 pm: BBQ Lunch on the side of the Capitol
1:00 - 2:00 pm: Visit with Legislators, Committee meetings, etc., and Tabling in Rotunda
2:00 - 3:30 pm: House & Senate Resolutions Recognizing Fathers
